Natural Beeswax Votives
All our Natural Beeswax Votives are 100% natural beeswax and homemade. We use purified beeswax so candles burn smoothly. A light glaze finish is sprayed on most candles to enhance the design. This doesn’t inhibit the quality of the burn or the benefit of air purification. Beeswax candles are air purifiers by nature and are far superior to paraffin candles when it comes to heath benefits!
The Candle Colors will vary depending on many factors. One factor is the age of the wax. New wax is very pale, almost white. This wax is typically obtained from the “wax cappings” This is produced by the bees when they seal the honey in a cell of honeycomb. As honeycomb ages, it gets darker. This is typically obtained when beekeepers decide to replace the old honeycomb. The natural brown color is seen in our Emergency Candle.
Another factors is the exposure to light. As the poured candle sits in exposure to light, it changes from yellow to more ivory. It is beautiful and very elegant. This is a very slow process and often not observed because the candle is burned before change occurs!
The final factor is if color wax chips have been added to the molten beeswax before pouring. When I prepare the wax for pouring colored candles, I use diamond color chips from Mann Lake, Ltd. a beekeeping supply company. There is no exact science to getting consistent color in the candles! My rule of thumb is that I generally use less color in the spring and early summer, more color in the late summer through winter. That being said, it is good to keep in mind that your colored natural beeswax candle will probably not match exactly as depicted here.

Natural Beeswax candles alone give such a light, pleasant scent that we do not add any artificial fragrances. Miel’s candles are hypo-allergenic and can be burned around those with allergies, asthma, or those who are sensitive to chemicals. However, there is no guarantee that an allergic reaction would occur.
