The Benefits of Honey

Natural Honey Offers Many Benefits

Nature Made & Handcrafted Honey
We take our full honey frames, remove the wax cappings and put them directly in a honey extractor machine.  The honey drains through a cheesecloth, which in turn gives you the rawest natural honey you can get, locally produced!  Locally produced honey can be a great remedy for allergies, especially seasonal allergies.

Honey is Essentially Pure Sugar!

This is better than regular sugar for blood sugar levels especially.  Since it includes a hormone called adiponectin, this can reduce inflammation and improve blood sugar regulation.

Raw honey contains a variety of plant chemicals that are a good source of antioxidants.  These can help protect your body from cell damage due to free radicals.  Polyphenols is an antioxidant compound in honey that may play a role in preventing heart disease.  There’s no fat and it contains small amounts of nutrients from health-promoting plant compounds such as this one.  Some of the antioxidants in honey include phenolic acids and flavonoids. Research also shows that raw honey can kill unwanted bacteria and fungus.

Treats Wounds

Another great honey benefit is that it can be used to treat wounds.  It has even helped with bad wounds such as burns.   Honey can be an effective germ killer and aids in tissue regeneration.  Honey can also help treat digestive issues and is a potent prebiotic that nourishes the good bacteria that live in your stomach.

Cold Remedy

Have a cold?  Honey can soothe sore throats!  Try a spoonful of honey.  This is an old sore throat remedy and works well with hot tea and lemon.  This is especially great for children because it’s all natural.  However, it is not recommended to give babies honey, due to risk of botulism (under age 1).  Research suggests that honey is as effective as dextromethorphan, a comment over-the-counter cough medication.

All-Natural Sweetener

Want some sweetener?  Just add it to yogurt, coffee, or tea!  Honey can even be used for baking and cooking!  Always use in moderation but note, that this is a great all-natural sweetener that is truly good for you!
